Knowledge makes the market: 15 start-ups from Lübeck’s universities

15 start-up teams showed courage at the Hanse Innovation Campus Lübeck in 2023 and launched companies based on their research and scientific expertise.
That is three times more start-ups than in the previous year.
This is the conclusion drawn by the GründerCube after evaluating the figures for 2023.

The 15 start-ups at the Hanse Innovation Campus Lübeck come from various disciplines, including civil engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering and natural sciences.
They were founded by a diverse group of women and men, including students, research assistants and professors.
Of the 15 start-ups, seven teams come from the TH Lübeck, six teams from the University of Lübeck and two teams were founded across universities.

“Bright and courageous minds on campus are supported in their start-up projects by our experts from the GründerCube. They support the teams, such as the start-up ISOPTERRA, which was founded by students Marvin Martin and Paul Tschense from the Civil Engineering department at TH Lübeck. The way start-ups are developing on campus is a success story,” says Dr. Muriel Helbig, President of TH Lübeck.

“Knowledge transfer is an important topic for our university. Our aim is to have a meaningful impact on society. When this succeeds in the form of spin-offs and we also contribute to strengthening the local economy, it is all the more gratifying. We are proud of the many innovative ideas of our university members,” says Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gillessen-Kaesbach, Acting President of the University of Lübeck.

The teams have applied for start-up grants and accelerator programs and receive extensive support in the GründerCube.
“Often you just need some support and expertise from other areas to make it easier to find your way onto the market,” explains Anna Lena Paape, Head of the GründerCube.
“So that you are not alone on this winding road to founding a company, we are at your side with advice, support and great workshops,” adds Paape.

The GründerCube is the contact point for people interested in starting a business on the Lübeck campus.
Here they can get information and support on all aspects of starting a business, funding and programs.
At the heart of the Cube’s offerings is the Gründungskontor, where new founders develop their business plan within ten workshop units and receive detailed knowledge about target groups, financing, cost planning and marketing, for example.
